Fall 2016 / Work Wear

Pleats and Cold Shoulders

Happy Monday budget babes! I hope you all had a great weekend! I wanted to kick off this week with a look that’s out of my norm: Pleats! I don’t think I’ve ever worn pleats on the blog and I feel like Mondays are perfect for trying something new!

Majority of this look from Forever 21 which, contrary to popular belief, isn’t all mini dresses and clubwear. When you take the time, you can find plenty of pieces suitable for work or meeting the parents when styled correctly. The length of the skirt is perfect on me even when I’m wearing heels which means i can definitely wear it to work. I love that waist band is elastic too! I’m wearing a 3x, but if I knew it was stretchy I would have sized down so the it was a little tighter around the waist. The sweater is my favorite. The color, the fit, the open shoulders, everything. It’s not a super heavy sweater either. Again, I’m wearing a 3x, but I could have sized down.

This is fun Fall look for when you want to be a little more conservative. I paired it with a black bag, minimal jewelry and pointed toe low heels.

  1. Did you put anything under the pleated skirt to make it puff more? I have been eyeing it since it’s been on the forever 21 website and wanted to make sure it would fit flared that way before ordering. THE outfit you chose looks beautiful on you 😊.

  2. Are you partnering with XXI? Your photo is used on their website as one of the official photos for this skirt but you’re not mentioned anywhere in the description so I’m confused
